As I read the Anne Franks Diary I felt a sense of happiness yet a sense of darkness. I read Anne's accounts of the war and she just seemed so okay with being where she was, she never lost hope, never lost her sense of happiness and wonder, but she quarreled so much with her family that it almost seemed unbearable. I think that if you're interested in any part of human history, you should be interested in The Diary of Anne Frank because as the saying goes, "if we do not learn from our history we are doomed to repeat it." Anne Frank does have her dull moments in the book, however it almost always keeps you on the edge of your seats since you are always wondering if and when the Nazis will arrive. I was not exactly able to make any connections to the novel. However with my mother having seven children I have had to take on responsibilities as being the oldest. Although Anne had to take on much more difficult responsibilities even though she may have not met the expectations set by her parents such as how she nearly constantly argued with her family. I learned the experiences that Anne Frank had to go through were horrible, how she must have had fear within her at every second. There is still intolerance in the world. Racism against African-Americans and Latinos in America and there is still prejudice against Jews in many places in Europe. There are lessons to be learned from this such as if you speak in a negative tone towards a different ethnic group then it could start something incredibly horrible. This book has not changed my thinking in any way, I have always been sickened by any prejudice thoughts.
